The couple Kerby Ng and Joyce Cheh legally got married inside their own car at a car wash at Shell Reddy Express Perth, in Australia, nine months before the ceremony that took place at the Private Jet Villa on August 30, 2025.

“We were already engaged, but we needed to sign mainly for legal reasons. We kept it a secret because we didn’t want to treat it as if we were already truly married until the larger official celebration,” Ng explained to People magazine.

Ng invited two friends, Karen and Daniel, to witness the couple’s official union. He said they had no idea they were being taken to a wedding ceremony.
“I said we were going to the car wash. Knowing me, they just accepted that I’m kind of random,” he recalled.

The celebrant, Richard Douglas, also joined in on the fun and loved the idea. He addressed the couple’s family members who could not be present with them.
The 120 wedding guests laughed a lot after being shocked to learn about the secret ceremony.
“There was applause, cheers, and a lot of people came up to us saying, ‘Only you two would think of doing something this crazy,’” Ng said. “My mom scolded me for not telling her, but in a funny way.”
The couple met in Malaysia 10 years ago and started a long-distance relationship a year later, with Ng studying in the United Kingdom and Cheh in Malaysia. They got engaged in 2024 and moved to Australia in 2025 after the wedding.
